In 2013, she won the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage in Journalism Award for her work investigating claims of illegal logging in a protected area of the Cambodian jungle.

Now an award-winning journalist and author, she has written a number of books, including When the War Was Over: Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge Revolution.
